About This Calculator

Percentages show a number as a fraction of 100 and appear everywhere — discounts, tips, grades, growth rates, and statistics. This calculator handles the three most common percentage problems.

The Three Formulas

  • What is P% of V? → (P ÷ 100) × V
  • X is what % of Y? → (X ÷ Y) × 100
  • X is P% of what? → X ÷ (P ÷ 100)

Switch the calculation type above to jump between them — the inputs update automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find what percent one number is of another?

Divide the first number by the second, then multiply by 100. For example, 30 out of 200 is (30 ÷ 200) × 100 = 15%.

What is 15% of 200?

Multiply 200 by 0.15 (which is 15 ÷ 100). 200 × 0.15 = 30, so 15% of 200 is 30.

Why does my result show a dash?

A dash appears when a calculation would divide by zero (for example, asking what percent of 0). Enter a non-zero value for the “of” number to get a result.
